About Mizunosato Sawara
Welcome to Mizunosato Sawara

Located on the banks of the majestic Tone River in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, “Mizunosato Sawara” is a rare combined facility that integrates a Roadside Station and a River Station under one roof.
During the Edo period, Sawara flourished as a hub of river transport along the Tone River, earning the nickname “Little Edo of the Kanto Region.” Building on this rich waterside heritage and natural landscape, the facility opened in 2010 as a tourism base that carries on the traditions of this historic water town.
The Roadside Station features a direct sales shop offering fresh vegetables and fruits delivered by local farmers, as well as specialty products unique to Katori City, and a takeout café centered around sweet potato sweets. At the River Station, visitors can enjoy a wealth of waterside experiences, including sightseeing cruises along the Tone River and a river marina. A panoramic restaurant overlooking the Tone River and rental bicycles are also available, allowing guests to enjoy meals and sightseeing amid the scenic landscapes of this water town.
The facility also houses a disaster prevention education exhibition introducing the history of flood damage in the lower Tone River basin and the efforts made in flood control, serving as a base for flood prevention activities.
We invite you to experience all that Sawara has to offer — its water, its greenery, and its charm — both from land and from the river.
